Choose a designer rug for your room
When comparing luxury designer rugs, start with the pattern, then check the fibre, construction and size against the way you use your room. Our selection includes botanical, geometric and abstract designs for Australian living rooms, bedrooms and dining spaces.
Compare designer styles
- Orla Kiely: repeating Stem and leaf patterns with a mid-century feel.
- Morris & Co: detailed botanical patterns, including Seaweed and Pimpernel.
- Marimekko: bold floral and abstract designs, including Unikko and Seireeni.
- Sanderson and Laura Ashley: florals and foliage, from Poppies and Stapleton Park to Pussy Willow.
- Harlequin and Scion: expressive colour, geometric patterns and playful motifs.
- Ted Baker and Wedgwood: decorative florals and statement designs, including Magnolia, Folia and Waterlily.
- Brink & Campman: explore textured designs such as Craft Plait alongside patterned rugs.
Compare wool, blends and outdoor materials
The fibre and construction vary between designs. These examples show why it is worth checking the individual specifications:
- Orla Kiely Stem Kingfisher: a repeating leaf pattern in pure new wool, hand tufted with a 12 mm pile.
- Morris & Co Seaweed Ink: a flowing botanical pattern in 97% wool and 3% viscose, hand tufted with a 12 mm pile.
- Marimekko Seireeni Green: sweeping abstract curves in green, beige and navy, hand tufted from 100% New Zealand wool with a 12 mm pile.
- Ted Baker Botanical Tulip Burgundy Outdoor: a floral design made from 100% recycled PET, hand tufted with an 11 mm pile and specified for outdoor use.
For a busy room, pets or children, compare the pile and care requirements before deciding. An outdoor specification applies to that particular rug; it does not make every designer rug suitable for outdoor use. Follow the care instructions for your chosen fibre and construction.
Choose a large rug around your furniture
For a generous living-room or bedroom layout, compare the 280 × 200 cm and 350 × 250 cm options on Stem Kingfisher and Seireeni Green. Select the size on each product page to check current availability. Dimensions and available sizes vary by design.
Measure the usable floor area and mark out the rug before ordering. In a seating area, check where the sofa and chair legs will sit. Under a dining table, allow space for chairs to pull out; beside a bed, check how much rug remains visible. Allow for door clearance and walking routes. See our rug size guide and rug visualiser to help plan the layout.
You can also browse living room rugs, runner rugs and hallway rugs for other room layouts.
Check delivery and returns before ordering
Designer lead times and delivery transit times are separate. Check our shipping policy for dispatch guidance, free-shipping exclusions and areas without delivery service. If you need a rug for a particular date, contact us with the design, size and postcode before ordering.
For eligible change-of-mind returns, request authorisation within 14 days of delivery. A 20% restocking fee and courier collection charges apply. Keep the rug unused and unwashed, with its original tags and packaging. Our refund policy explains the exclusions and the separate, fee-free process for defective, damaged or incorrect items.
Frequently Asked Questions
Choose from botanical, geometric and abstract patterns across the designer collections above. Compare modern rugs for more contemporary options, then check the chosen design's fibre, construction and size.
Follow the care instructions for the specific rug. Cleaning methods can differ between wool, wool blends and recycled PET. Check the recommended vacuum setting and spill treatment before cleaning, and ask for advice if you are unsure.
Yes. A quieter colour palette can sit alongside simple furniture, while a bold pattern can become the room's focal point. Compare wool rugs by pattern and texture as well as fibre.
Suitability depends on the particular rug and how the room is used. Check the pile, fibre and cleaning instructions, and ask about your chosen design if you expect frequent spills or heavy use. Designer styling alone does not establish pet suitability.
Measure the room and furniture, mark the rug's footprint on the floor, and check door and chair clearance. Compare rectangular layouts with round rugs where a circular shape suits the furniture arrangement.
Examples in this collection include pure new wool, New Zealand wool, wool-viscose blends and recycled PET for specific outdoor designs. Read the composition and care details on each product page rather than assuming all designer rugs use the same materials.
Compare the design you want with its fibre, construction, size and care requirements. The product examples above help you compare named patterns and specifications before choosing a premium rug for your room.
Compare the product photographs with your flooring, walls and upholstery, and use the rug visualiser to explore the overall look. Screen settings and lighting can affect colour, so images are a guide rather than an exact colour match.
